Email senders · Housecall Pro

Do I need to add Housecall Pro to my SPF or DMARC record?

No.

01

Which address does Housecall Pro send from?

By default, Housecall Pro sends your customer emails from a housecallpro.com address.

Housecall Pro says in its own documentation that this email comes from housecallpro.com. That is Housecall Pro's own domain, so the email is checked against Housecall Pro's records, not yours.

02

Why does my DMARC record not cover these emails?

Author Domain: The domain name of the apparent author, as extracted from the RFC5322.From field.

DMARC is read for the domain in the From address a reader sees. When that domain is Housecall Pro's, the check uses Housecall Pro's records.

So your policy, from p=none to p=reject, has no effect on these emails. There is nothing to add to your SPF record for them.

03

Can Housecall Pro send from my own domain instead?

Domain authentication lets you send them from your own domain instead, so an email looks like it came from [email protected] .

Housecall Pro has a beta feature that sends customer emails from your own domain once you add DNS records.

In Housecall Pro, go to Settings, then Notifications, then Email Domain.

If you turn that on, the email is sent as your domain, and your SPF, DKIM and DMARC records then apply to it. Publish the records Housecall Pro shows you before you raise your DMARC policy.

04

What should I watch for with Housecall Pro email?

A forged email can copy the look of a Housecall Pro message from any address. Read the address it came from, not the name shown, before you open a link or make a payment.
