This message does not meet IPv6 sending guidelines regarding PTR records and authentication
What does it mean?
Over IPv6, Gmail asks for both a PTR record on the sending address and SPF or DKIM.
What exactly does the source say?
550 5.7.1 This message does not meet IPv6 sending guidelines regarding PTR records and authentication. For more information, go to Email sender guidelines.
Gmail's page writes domain-name and ip-address where your bounce shows your own domain and the sending address.
Why would a small firm see it?
A server that switched to IPv6 without a PTR record, or a service whose IPv6 addresses are not in your SPF record.
How do I fix it?
- Find the sending server from the bounce.
- Have whoever holds that IPv6 address set a PTR record for it.
- Make sure your SPF record covers the service, and that DKIM is on.
What else do the sources say?
An IPv6 authorization error could mean that the PTR record for the sending server isn't using IPv6. If you use an email service provider, confirm they're using an IPv6 PTR record.
