spf=temperror

As the standard prints it.
01

What does it mean?

TempError means the check could not finish, not that it failed.

02

What exactly does the source say?

temperror: A temporary error occurred. For example, a DNS error. The same check later might succeed.

03

Why would a small firm see it?

A name server listed for your domain that no longer answers, or a DNS host having a bad moment.

04

How do I fix it?

  1. Check that every name server listed for your domain still answers for it.
  2. Remove any listed name server your DNS host no longer runs, at the company that holds the domain.
05

What else do the sources say?

spf=<pass (IP address)|fail (IP address)|softfail (reason)|neutral|none|temperror|permerror> smtp.mailfrom=<domain>

A "temperror" result means the SPF verifier encountered a transient (generally DNS) error while performing the check. A later retry may succeed without further DNS operator action.
