Glossary · The LeakTrace Index

What is the LeakTrace Index?

The LeakTrace Index is our measure of how many professional firms publish no rule telling mail servers to refuse email forged in their name: no DMARC record, or one at p=none.

01

What does the LeakTrace Index mean?

none: The Domain Owner requests no specific action be taken regarding delivery of messages.

It rests on 1,863 professional firms in Canada and the United States, read between 13 May 2026 and 8 October 2026, with test and demonstration records left out.

It joins two states. 41.8% of the firms publish no DMARC record at all; 32.6% publish one at p=none, which asks receiving servers for no action.

The method, the dates and the figures by line of work are on the Index's own page. A new edition replaces the figure here on the day it is published, since every page reads it from the same place.

02

Where does it show up in a reading?

In a LeakTrace reading it is read under “Forged email in your name”: the records that tell inboxes whether to refuse email sent as you (DMARC, SPF and DKIM).

A firm's own reading shows which side of the figure it is on.
