If a payment failed
Stripe Smart Retries handles failed payments automatically — 4 retries over about 3 weeks. While retrying, your subscription is marked past due but access continues.
What you should do
If you receive a "payment failed" email, open the billing portal and update your card. Stripe will retry against the new card automatically. No need to manually retry the failed charge.
When access stops
If all 4 retries fail, the subscription moves to unpaid or canceled. Access ends. Reactivate by updating the payment method and contacting support to restart the subscription.
