Cyber insurance application · EDR

What is EDR, and why do cyber insurance forms ask about it?

EDR is endpoint detection and response: software that records what happens on each device, reports it to one place and can stop a threat on its own.

01

What exactly does the form ask?

These are the forms' own words, with the form and page each comes from.

Do you use an endpoint detection and response (EDR) tool that provides centralized monitoring and logging and is configured to automatically contain threats for all endpoint activity across your enterprise?

Is EDR deployed and monitored on 100% of workstations and servers?

Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)

Is the EDR product deployed on all endpoints on your network?

02

What does it mean for a small firm?

Antivirus looks for known bad files. EDR also watches behaviour and can isolate a device. The forms treat them as separate questions.

03

How do I answer it truthfully?

Count the devices in your EDR console and the devices you own. If they differ, the form asks you to say which devices lack it and what protects them instead.

04

Can an outside reading check this?

An outside reading cannot see what runs on your devices. Nothing inside your network, your devices or your accounts can be seen from outside, so this cannot be checked that way. Only your own settings and records can show it.
